Meet Peter

Peter lives in North Portland with his partner, Sadie, a mental health crisis worker, and their dog Otso.

He enjoys playing ice hockey, cross country skiing, walking Otso while listening to Supreme Court oral arguments, and going to Blazers games.

After graduating cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., Peter clerked for two years with the Hon. Stanley Allen Bastian on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington.

Following his clerkship, Peter did voter protection work for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign before joining Multnomah Defenders, Inc. (MDI). At MDI, Peter represented over 500 clients in Multnomah County Circuit Court in thousands of hearings and dozens of trials.

Peter has continued his public service at the Appellate Division of the Oregon Public Defense Commission where he has represented hundreds of clients in the Oregon Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. At OPDC, Peter serves as a union steward for AFSCME, helping colleagues navigate employment issues.

Appointed by the Chief Justice Martha Walters, Peter serves on the Uniform Trial Court Rules Committee alongside judges and lawyers from across the state, drafting and amending the rules that guide local courts.

He has also served as the Chair of the Criminal Justice Commission’s Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program Advisory Board and as a member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee’s Case Processing Subcommittee.
